Pastor Corey grew up in Glen Daniel, WV, accepted Christ at age five, and graduated from Liberty High School in 2007. He graduated from Liberty University in 2014. He studied Religion and recieved his Bachelors of Psychology, specializing in Christian Counseling.

Pastor Corey accepted the call to ministry in 2002 at the age of 13 and signed a recording contract in Tenessee. He began recording and releasing Christian Country music originally as a soloist, then as the Corey Brooks Band, and finally as the vocalist for Contemporary Christian band, Spoken For. He toured and led worship and preached for 13 years. He has received multiple awards and nominations in the entertainment industry including a GMA Dove Nomination for Album of the Year. Pastor Corey is also a co-owner of Merit Media Group which operates the imprint, Verb Records. Verb handled the distribution of the churches worship single, Move, that released in 2019.

Before coming to Breckenridge, Pastor Corey served terms as, Interim Senior Pastor, Associate Pastor for Youth and Children, and Worship Leader at three churches in other towns in West Virginia.

Pastor Corey was ordained in 2015 and subsequently called to his first position as Pastor of Student Ministries at Breckenridge, a position in which he was interim for a year. During time in this position the Student Ministry saw a 400% increase in attendance, outgrew two youth rooms, witnessed around 65 salvations, countless recommitments, and numerous students accepting the call to ministry. Many of these students are still actively serving at Breckenridge today.

He accepted his current position in September 2018 after a 3/4 majority vote from the church membership body. His primary focuses thus far have been: honoring the churches rich history while striving towards what is to come, increasing our outreach and service opportunities, stabilizing church leadership roles, and becoming more welcoming toward our guests.

The church has been so blessed with the added ministry of his wife Felicia. Pastor Corey proposed to Felicia Garcia-Wedemeyer in the Fall of 2019 and they were married on June 6th, 2020. Felicia serves in many ministries within the church, leads a small group, teaches special classes like Bible Journaling, and often co-leads services and activities with Pastor Corey.

In August 2021, Pastor Corey and Felicia welcomed Lila Mae Brooks and in July 2023 they welcomed the newest member of their family, Daisy Renee Brooks. As their family continues to grow, so does our churches ministry and passion to minister to all ages. Come grow with us!
