Meet Pastor Corey

Corey Brooks serves as Lead Pastor of Breckenridge Missionary Baptist Church in Bolt, West Virginia. He has been part of the Breckenridge family for more than a decade, first serving in student ministry before becoming Lead Pastor in September 2018.

Corey has a passion for helping people of every generation know Jesus, grow in their faith, and find a meaningful place in the life of the church. He believes a healthy church is more than a place people attend on Sunday—it is a family where people are known, leaders serve together, the next generation is valued, and there is room for people at every stage of life and faith.

That heart can be seen throughout the culture of Breckenridge. From worship and small groups to youth ministry, community outreach, parking lot parties, meals, special events, and opportunities to serve, the church strives to be a joyful and welcoming presence in the community. Corey believes some of the most meaningful ministry happens when the church gets outside its walls, builds relationships, and simply shows people the love of Jesus.

Breckenridge has been part of the Bolt community since 1881, and Corey has a deep appreciation for the generations of faithful people who built the church and carried its ministry forward. At the same time, he often reminds the church that the best way to honor a rich history is not simply to preserve it, but to build faithfully upon it.

The same Gospel that sustained Breckenridge through generations past continues to call the church forward today. Corey’s desire is to help lead a church that remembers where it came from while continually asking how God can use it to reach the next generation. There is gratitude for what God has done, excitement about what He is doing now, and a genuine belief that the best is yet to come.

Before becoming Lead Pastor, Corey spent several years working with students and young adults. His ministry background also includes Christian music, worship, and evangelism. As a teenager and young adult, he traveled extensively in music ministry, recorded several projects, and received national recognition, including a Dove Award nomination. Those years helped shape his heart for communicating the Gospel in ways that connect with people where they are.

Corey is a graduate of Liberty University with a degree in Psychology with a focus in Christian Counseling. In addition to pastoral ministry, he works in public education and is involved in leadership development, ministry training, and consulting.

Corey and his wife, Felicia, are raising two daughters and are deeply rooted in southern West Virginia. Whether preaching on Sunday, working with students, developing leaders, gathering with the community, or simply spending time with people, Corey’s desire is to help create environments where people can belong, grow, serve, and encounter Jesus.

His heart for Breckenridge is reflected in the church’s vision: to connect all generations to God and one another, grow in faith through Christ, and serve the world with love and purpose.
